Quotas & overage

Every plan includes a monthly traffic quota. This page explains what counts as traffic, what happens when the quota runs out, and how overage is charged. Your current usage is always visible in Account → Billing in the panel.

The monthly quota​

Each plan includes a fixed amount of traffic per calendar month:

The quota resets on the 1st of every month (00:00 UTC). Unused traffic does not roll over.

Custom quotas take precedence

Partner accounts can have a custom free quota assigned by Paradarum. When set, it replaces the plan's included traffic. See Partner accounts.

What counts as traffic​

Traffic is the data the Paradarum edge delivers to your visitors:

  • Counted: every response served by the CDN to end users — cache hits and misses alike — including live playback manifests and segments.
  • Not counted: edge-to-origin transfer (cache-miss fetches, Origin Shield-to-origin requests) and request bodies uploaded by visitors.

In other words: you pay for what the CDN delivers, not for what it fetches.

When the quota runs out​

What happens next depends on your plan:

Grace period​

If overage drives your account balance negative, delivery is not cut off immediately: you get a 7-day grace period to top up. During the grace period the service keeps running normally and the panel shows a prominent warning. If the balance is still negative after 7 days, delivery pauses until you top up. If a renewal then arrives without enough balance for the plan fee, the account is moved down to the free Seed plan — existing resources are all kept, only new additions are blocked; see Changing plans.

Do not rely on the grace period

The grace period is a safety net for traffic spikes, not a credit line. Keep a positive balance so a viral day never turns into paused delivery — the balance warnings below give you plenty of notice.

Balance warnings​

So you never run dry by surprise, Paradarum emails you whenever your balance looks short — each email includes a breakdown of the amounts and a direct link to top up:

  • 30-day forecast. If your balance does not cover the charges expected over the next 30 days — your plan fee (if the renewal falls within 30 days), upcoming live stream renewals, and an estimate of variable traffic charges projected from the current month's usage — you get a heads-up email with the breakdown. Sent once per billing cycle; it re-arms after you top up or the cycle renews.
  • Renewal reminders. If your balance cannot cover the upcoming plan renewal, you get a reminder 15 days, 7 days and 1 day before the renewal date (one email per step, and none if you top up in time).
  • At renewal. If the renewal is charged successfully but the remaining balance would not cover the next one, you get a note at the moment of the charge so you can top up early.
  • After a forced downgrade. If a renewal fails for insufficient balance and the account is moved to Seed, you get one reminder 15 days later with the downgrade date, inviting you to top up and pick your plan again.
Top-ups are manual

Recharging your balance is a manual step in Account → Billing — pay with PayPal or by card (no PayPal account needed). Automatic recharge is not available at the moment.
